Dr. Seuss Theodor Seuss Geisel, author of childrens books, born on this day in 1904. Dr. Seuss’ book The Lorax , written in 1971, is especially well known as a cautionary environmental tale about a small creature who speaks “for the trees.” It was made into a Universal film and released on this day, Seuss’ birthday, in 2012.
